Jessica Dew (1993 - ) likes bad good dumb art, medieval art, playing in bands – including Ralph – but hates writing, which makes comic-ing hard. Last year, she completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts. It gave her anxiety and irritable bowel. The comics in Three Words are her first.

in profile: mirranda burton

Mirranda Burton is an interdisciplinary artist, meandering between drawing,

printmaking, comix and animation. Her first graphic novel,

Hidden, was published to critical acclaim in 2011, and won

the Best Illustrated Book/Graphic Novel in the 2011 Aurealis

Awards, and a 2012 Gold Ledger Award. It was also published

in France.

in profile: liz mathews

Liz Mathews was born in

1979 (star sign Scorpio), and grew up in Kerikeri where she started

doing zines and mixtapes and formed a band when she was 16.

She made these zines (1996 – 2014): Flying Fox (issues 1 – 16),

Wishbone Your Majesty, Golden Opportunity, Robo Theory and

Stink Lines. She has a degree in Women’s Studies and went to art college in Glasgow. Liz currently lives in Wellington with her cat

Omen, plays in two bands, and is working on a burger review zine

and a zombie apocalypse soundtrack.
